For those who do not know….sheep have a special nerve in the hip/spine area that when they are flipped over it basically paralyzes them and they submit completely. This allows for sheering, hoof trimming, medical care, etc. Yes, that ram has the size and the horns to damage and even kill the people handling him. But once caught all they want to do is escape, not stick around and fight. Once flipped, they stay completely limp. Once released they want as far away from the captor as possible. Also, being held in the pinned position to long can cause nerve damage and they will have issues walking again for up to several hours. If you see one trapped on its back, roll it over and wait until it can stand & walk on its own before leaving it.

And never EVER turn your back on a ram, bull, buck, stallion or any other mature breeding male livestock animal. They are dangerous and unpredictable.

I appreciate this man being able to handle a ram of this size and do this job at the same time. It is back breaking work to say the least. His animals are well cared for and lucky to have him as their shepherd.

He scared me.... sheers almost went in his little eyes! He's rougher than the others. I especially appreciate the female "sheep barber"😆 soothing techniques. She's more compassionate and places the sheeps in their comfort zone to become relax for the long haul.

Gosh this is the most aggressive sheering I've ever seen. I guess i got used to watching a different channel and she is so good and gentle and extremely efficient.

After a few times being sheared, they learn it relieves them of hot, itchy wool. They find it kinda soothing. Cows feel somewhat the same when their udder fills full of milk. They look forward to being relieved of the milk. When you have an experienced herd you don't even have to go to the pasture to get them. They are at the gate waiting for you to let them in.

He is a timid ram. Sometimes they can be feisty. That ram could hurt the shearer. It is a skill to shear 200 sheep per day. Back breaking job.
