They must add sports we have previously seen such as baseball, table tennis, water sports, and many other fan favorites. If they do this as a free DLC the game will definitely become iconic.

My main problem is the focus online. This is the one game, that pretty much EVERYONE expects a good local experience.

I think what makes this game so mediocre is that it is basically a mini game collection, with only 6 mini games. Wii sports only had a few games too, but each game had a few different ways to play it, making the overall experience feel so full. It’s this difference that makes switch sports feel so lacking in charm and variety, in my opinion (also RIP Miis as the dominant avatar.)

We've had a blast with it but they really need to add more games 😭 Also, the local multiplayer profile situation sucks 😒

I really appreciate that you are using the whole score system of 0-10 where mediocre is actually a 5 in the middle and not a 7!

The main problem is that Wii Sports was sold as a pack-in tech-demo for many people's first video game console of their life. It was one of, if not the, best-selling consoles of their time. A sequel to Wii Sports on a different console would need to be just as valid of a tech demo, and just as accessible for new players. A game like this, releasing at full price, _five_ *_years_* after the Switch's launch... it has absolutely zero of the advantages the Wii game benefitted from. This would be much better suited as a free NSO game, if anything.

Remember when Nintendo used to released multiplayer games that were actually finished & weren't half-baked? With tons of content available from the getgo & didn't rely on "free updates?"

Those were the days...

"A 6 is under expectations" - wholeheartedly agree with that statement, its a fun game but it could and SHOULD have been so much more - WSR was taking the original concept and turning the dial up to 100, SS unfortunately is a step back, and underwhelming :/

I think the game that really suffered the most early on Switch was 1, 2 Switch. That seemed to be like more of a technical demo that should've been a free pack-in, like Wii Sports, but as we've seen recently in Reggie's book, NCL aren't fans of "giving away" their "valuable" software, even if the software isn't as valued by consumers (eg 80%+ critic scores and user ratings across the board, selling millions etc...) as Nintendo think it should be.

Hopefully they can rescue this through QoL and new sport updates, or with a Switch Sports Deluxe/Club Switch Sports/Switch Sports Resort(?) release :p

Fingers crossed for Mario Strikers!

This feels like a game that should come free with the nintendo switch as a demo lol.

I enjoyed it but the game severely lacks content. Also they’re doing the drip feeding dlc every month or so to keep people interested, which is not a good thing tbh

I think I'll stick to Clubhouse Games for my casual fix. Lots of iconic board and card games. Plus, it actually has bowling, and darts playable with touch or motion controls. And the best part? It's a full package. No locked content.

As a Wii sports successor, it's great... But it's not just about Wii sports, it's the legacy of Wii sport resort and the 'wii' brand games. The people who were most excited for switch sports wasn't the casual consumer base who bought Wii sports, they've all moved on. It was the dedicated fans, if switch sports had alot of the revamped activities from resorts then I think more people would've been on board with the game.

It needs more. If they DLC the mess outta this, give it old game modes, give it practice game modes, a Pro System like the OG Wii Sports games had where you can feel progress, and then buff the online experience, they could have a classic. This feels like a foundation game that they can build on, and I hope that they do because it can be so much fun if it becomes as expansive as we know it can be.

I have really enjoyed the game so far!

And I think elimination bowling is good because it keeps you from wasting time if you have no chance to beat the players that will be getting strikes and spares when you aren’t.

I’m having a lot of fun with it! After originally being suspicious of volleyball and soccer (lots of reviews/impressions are less favorable) they’re now two of my favorites. Yes — price/value can be debated (I personally think it should have been free for expansion pack), but when just talking gameplay I think it’s at least a 7. 6 just felt a little low to me — then again, I’m not paid to do the reviews! Nice video guys.

People are underselling the depth of the soccer dramatically. It’s actually so fun

Tennis should've included 3 modes: tennis, badminton, and pickleball. Baseball, boxing, and golf should've come in the base game, and every sport should have 2-3 different modes each.
For contrast, Wii Sports Resort has 12 sports with multiple modes in each sport, giving you endless options to keep you coming back.
In Switch Sports, once you've played each sport once, that's it. There's no more content. Go home.

Switch Sports has a lot of style, and does what it does really well. It needs more though. More sports. More offline features. More Matt.

Ive enjoyed it, its not and never will be as good as the original, but that was a masterpiece if we are all being honest. Just REALLY needs more content for a 40$ game.
