Greece emerged from a very long slumber of the "Dark Ages" into the promising "Archaic Age" with its intimation of "Democracy" to the shining city on the hill during the all too brief "Classical period".
Athens imperial ambition as head of the "Delian League" spelled trouble.
Sparta was not amused.
I have never visited Greece, but it seems the ruins of the Parthenon could serve as warning of what might happen to any civilization that allows hubris to rule.
