Not sure if it will happen.... But very sure it shouldn't happen ... As somday if the bank just goes bankrupt we are gonna beg on the streets.... Even in case of a natural disaster and when power is down only real money will few bucks in hand....

How many people are in debt with their cards.?the psychology of making and recieving money meant careful spending.now the card companies are encouraging people to be financially reckless. I bet rich people don t spend like this

They should accept bitcoin and litecoin soon as well. Cash shouldn't be entirely foregone though cause not everyone has access to payment cards or smart phones

In Boston the transit agency has been working on a new fare system and one part of it is to stop accepting cash on buses and start accepting contactless bank card payments. There have been a lot of controversy about this as it hurts low income people. The transit agency has had this dream that they could put fare machines at literally every bus stop across the region which would accept both cash & cards but they gave up on that and now are expecting to deploy fewer of them.
