I had a 90 year old neighbor across the street and she’d wave me over and tell me to bring my baby and she’d sit on her porch swing and rock my baby and tell me stories of our town in the “old” days. Those were some of the sweetest days of my life.

People are so caught up in their lives, they have forgotten how to connect and just chat with our elderly. Loneliness is real

My next door neighbor would come to our house every morning and I’d fix him breakfast. He passed away from dementia, and I sure miss him.

I am 69 years old. My neighbor was 92. She lived alone after her husband died. I went over to her house one day. She talked and talked. Mainly about days past. A few weeks later she had to go to a nursing home. I went by there on my way home from work one afternoon. She just wanted to hold my hand. She told me that no one would visit her. I told her that I had come to her house but she wouldn't answer the door. It wasn't many weeks thereafter that she passed away. I'm thankful that I made the effort to visit her even though I'm an old geezer myself.

So sweet to encourage him to come over. It's hard to be alone...

Keep a little neighborly eye on him if you can whenever possible, we will all be there one day 💛

Parents taught him well. "Respect the elders"

Moved into my street 3 yrs ago, one door up was an elderly neighbour, last original owner in our cute little street. I’d invite her for coffee and she’d invite me. What a full life she had. Always so excited and grateful when I’d knock and ask her over. Passed away peacefully at home a couple of months ago, two weeks after her 95th birthday. What a lady. I’m so blessed to have known her.

The world is full of kind people, if you can’t find one be one.

Thank YOU. From a lonely old Lady with nobody to have coffee with. You might have just saved his life. 💕

We need to pay more respect to the elderly - without them, our world wouldn’t be the same .

I’m taking care of my 86 year old father right now and this made big fat tears roll down my face. God bless you young man for having a heart full of compassion and God bless that gentleman for being brave enough to ask and put himself out there. So sweet

I hope this neighbor invites him for morning coffee more than once. We all get old folks.

I'm 63 and feel this to my core. Loneliness can wither and destroy a person. Be kind.

My neighbor is 90 and I carry in her groceries and take her trash to the street. She gave me a key to her house also bc she called 1 morning and she had fallen down and couldn’t get up. She had been on the floor for hours and wouldn’t call me bc she thought it was to early. They don’t want to be a burden but they aren’t. Help our elderly whenever possible folks! God bless

OMG I love this so much!! I used to be the Executive Director of a Senior Center in rural NorCal & I can tell you how lonely most of the seniors are & especially the homebound ones on Meals on Wheels. You would cry if you saw some of the living conditions that we used to deliver to. We had volunteers that would go help fix & build things to make the homes livable again. We had a 90 yr old who lived in a trailer with no windows 😢 a local business donated the windows & volunteers installed them.

Loneliness is hard...you have moms, dads, sisters, brothers, activities, jobs in your life for many years - every day of your life, then suddenly you are alone. God bless you for ministering to this man's loneliness.

One day, you will also be an 81 year old looking for a coffee buddy. Total respect

This used to be the norm. We used to know our neighbors and actually care about them. We need this again. Fact is when you get to know your neighbors your community becomes a safer place because people tend to watch out for friends.

I’m so impressed by all the comments from the young people here, it shows we still have humanity in this world.
I’m a 67 year old grandma & my 25 year old neighbor is my best friend! I see my son & his family, but not as often as I would like to. They don’t live in the same town as I do, so it makes it a little hard.
My neighbor is awesome, if he sees I’m not doing good or feeling bad, he calls my son & tells on me😂. In return I spoil his little 2 year old son when he comes over.
Kindness is free, give it away!
