I'm thinking about becoming a nurse (currently in CA). I was just told by someone I might have a better chance at getting a job as a male because most nurses are female. When I asked why the response was 'diversity and equal representation'.

The sad thing is that intersectionality in its initial intent was supposed to break down barriers--it was initially formed at the end of second wave feminism to demonstrate that people were not homogenous--in particular, that women of various races or socioeconomic backgrounds might have experiences that weren't being addressed in what was then mainstream feminism. And I don't need to tell you that 'white feminism' is now seen as a major insult in Leftist circles.

Intersectionality has evolved to become what it initially was supposed to fight against--ironically it somehow has taken the idea that these intersectional slices, instead of showing how each of us were even MORE unique (no one has exactly the same background and experiences and interests and beliefs and worries and values), intersectionality now operates with this idea that those intersectional slices include mind control--so all women have to think the same (vote for Hillary), all blacks have to think the same (just ask Kanye), etc, etc. It's a bitter irony that intersectionality experts (they're easy to find--they're the ones with 'if your feminism isn't intersectional, we don't want it' memes in their twitter bios) seem incapable of grasping. They are truly inhuman here, reducing people to identity labels that they think dictate thought and belief labels.

I am a second wave feminist, and my dissertation was in gender studies and I am so appalled by what has happened to both fields since I dissertated.
