Grieving today. This video helps, thank you 🙏. My house burned down, lost everything two days before my wedding. Moved off island last Sept. But my parents/fam stayed and are rebuilding. Lahaina will always be home and will rebuild stronger. God comfort those who need comforting as some lost way more than material things and provide so everyone can rebuild and return home if it’s in your will. God bless Lahaina. I miss you and love you! #lahainastrong

Thanks so much for this. My mom passed in the fires and it was good to see what has happened to her development.

I lived in East Maui since 1982. It was my dream to live on the West Side at some point, because I loved Lahaina town, the views, weather and beaches on the West Side. Four days before the fire, my dream came true and I closed on my home in Kaanapali, next door to Lahaina town. With a heavy but hopeful heart, I moved in. Your videos are so helpful, showing the amazing progress, acknowledging the tremendous strides being made by the combined efforts of federal, state and county governments, as well as volunteers, charities, churches, builders, attorneys and more. I am with you in positivity for the rebuild.

best drone video record I've seen of the totality of the Lahaina fire of 1 year ago. The task of cleaning up and rebuilding this town is hard to conceive of but one year after the firs, the progress in doing that is impressive.

Hi there Jesse. I’ve been subscribed for a couple of months or so. I live in Montana. The gal who does my nails lived in Lahaina for awhile some years back. Her sister still lives there. Her sister nearly succumbed to the fire. She spent quite a bit of time in the ocean to escape the flames. My nail tech, Hailey Piilola, has said she is going to follow you. I texted her your June update. She said her sister will never leave Maui. But it has been very difficult in the aftermath. Thank you for your flyovers and narration. Beautiful job‼️

I was just there last month after living there in 1999-2004. The west side is beautiful like I remember.
What I noticed first is how healthy Hawaii is and the have and have not’s stood out big time.

I feel bad for the local people. If I had Hawaiian blood I’d be pissed off like a MF.

Lahaina is demoed, cleaned up and ready to build. Fast!
The developers are licking their chops.
I worked construction and I learned back then…. Construction in Hawaii don’t play and it was evident again.

God Bless Hawaii and it’s people.

Bob and Chris it was really nice to see you again. And Pam, it was nice to meet you. You do Bob good!!❤

Excellent footage of the whole area. such a vast devastation zone. I cried so much for the people who endured this Disaster. We are a Canadian family with a small framing company. My husband is a 25 year carpenter. Would love to help

Thank you for this update. We stayed in Lahaina town for 15 days in 2013--our once in a lifetime trip to Hawaii. We loved the town and the people we met every day as walked around the town. We live in Summerside, Prince Edward Island, Canada which is about the same size as Lahaina. We were heartbroken when we learned of the devastating wildfire that consumed Lahaina. Your video shows the resilience and determination of the people of Lahaina in their efforts to rebuild their homes and lives. I hope and pray that as the rebuild proceeds, the character and charm that made Lahaina such a wonderful place to visit will also be restored..

Oh, my goodness. As pretty much all Alaskans, I considered myself a part-time Hawaiian, traveling there once or twice a year. We’d spend a couple days in Waikiki shopping, then fly over to Maui to stay in Wailea. We’d drive to Lahaina or Kaanapali for lunch or dinner, enjoying Maui’s old buildings and vibe. Because we were tourists, we didn’t venture into residential neighborhoods, walking only around the Front street commercial district. We watched in sadness that day, when everything we knew there burned, and listed to stories of the residents.
It really wasn’t until I watched your drone video during the first slow phases of cleanup that I saw the totality of the devastation, and how long it would take to just clear debris, much less “recover.”. Your footage is a reminder of how completely people’s lives were destroyed, and that the Maui we loved may not heal for decades. Continued best wishes to everyone affected by the fire, their families and their pets. 🌴🌱🎋🌸🌺❤️‍🩹

I'm glad to see the progress as of one year. I appreciate your commentary on the process of rebuilding as well.
One of the things that stagger me about rebuilding Maui is that so many people that survived will never be able to live there again? Maybe you have addressed these issues before, but homes need to be built, they won't be cheap, some owners may not have had insurance, and I'm afraid of big hotels and stores buying the lots and destroying the quaintness of Lahaina.
Best!

Glad to see the progress. My wife has family that live near Lahaina. There property was not affected but everything around them was. I am deeply saddened for the residents that lost everything but with help Lahaina is coming back stronger than ever.

I used to live on Maui as a visitor, not a real tourist but feeling at home, especially in the Ka'anapali area and Lahaina, when we lived in Europe. I now live in Mexico. Lahaina holds dear memories when my beloved husband was still in this dimension. Thank you for this hopeful information and blessings to all. My last visit was in Nov '19, hoping to be there again soon❤

Hi Jesse - I've been following your videos as my work team includes Hawaii team members on all the islands. We've been walking this journey with them from the mainland over the past year, with various trips and donations in support. Our team covers Northern California so wildfires are familiar, but this devastation is so big. Your videos are really well done and are helpful to see how far the community has come, and how much work there is still to do. Heartbreaking and hopeful at the same time. Thank you so much for giving us this birds eye view into the situation. I'll keep following to see the progress. Lahaina town is in our prayers - Mahalo!

Mahalo for capturing this awesome tour of Lahaina 1 year later. So devastating but praying everyone can rebuild what they’ve lost. And praying comfort for the families that lost loved ones🙏😇🏡🏝️

I was in Lahaina 3 weeks before the fire. We weren’t there for as long as I’d like, but my family and I got shave ice and people-watched on Front St. for a while. I took a few pictures throughout the evening, of the surrounding neighborhoods, King Kamehameha III School, the tree, the Lappert’s Ice Cream shop, of the art museum/studio that said “Now Hiring” across the street. It was really lovely. My heart hurt to see and hear about the devastation of Lahaina and its people. I wish I had taken more photos. Thank you for keep us updated.
