A quick history of the Civil War Kepi

Comprised of quality materials, our Confederate Kepi's are made to have that authentic feel. Consructed primary of wool material, it features a chin strap of leather, held by two brass C.S.A. buttons (CSA - Confederate States of America). These are not authentic campaigner kepis--meaning the specifications do not match the stitching, fabric, or general outline of a historic piece.

Took my 7 year old granddaughter to see the “General” (train from the great locomotive chase) in Kennesaw, Georgia, where she wore her kepi with pride. Then on to the Atlanta History Center to see the “Texas” and the Cyclorama. About 10 minutes into our tour there, we were told that the kepi was not allowed. We no longer support or patronize the Atlanta History Center.

When I was a child (and I know I'm dating myself), among the television westerns was one called "The Rebel." The titular character was a Southerner who'd migrated west after the war, and in the show he was presented as righting wrongs in the way that TV western characters did. And he always word his kepi.

Are there any books you could recommend on the South's need for new territory to disperse and diffuse the slave population in preparation for emancipation?
