I like this video so much. If you don't mind, I would like to ask your permission to translate and share this video to the other website in China for the embarrassing reason that YouTube is blocked from accessing in China. Of course, I will give sources of the original website. Thank you very much.

Even though a lot of computer scientists consider Shakey to be the world’s first ever AI, I don’t agree. Let me tell you why.

First of all, let us define an AI. The term “AI” means “Artificial Intelligence”. And Intelligence, according to me, basically means “Taking past information and applying it into the present.” So an AI is a machine that takes past information and applies it to the present situation its been given.

What does this have to do with Shakey then? Well Shakey doesn’t do anything I defined an AI to do. It just analyzes its environment and traverses through. It doesn’t have any memory.

Now comes to my second argument. An AI has 3 modules in total, which is the Memory Module, the Thinking Module, and the Reset Module. All these modules must work together in order to make the AI work.

The Memory Module stores memory. The Thinking Module processes the data from the Memory Module including some other necessary inputs like the User’s input, and then makes an output. It also stores some information into the Memory Module in the process, forming a strong relationship with each other. The Reset Module resets the AI’s Memory Module and other functions in case the AI goes rogue or in case the memory stored in the Memory Module exceeds a limit.

What does this have to do with Shakey? Well, we see no Memory Module, Thinking Module, not do we even see a Reset Module in Shakey.

Based on all these arguments, I can come up with a conclusion that Shakey is basically a Bump and Roll toy, but more expensive and bigger than normal Bump and Roll toys.

to think we can shape AI for the common good when we can even shape people for the “common good” 👀…

so this is completely ignoring turing and asimov? .... uh, ok -_-
Oh! and also this is an opinion-formation video... not letting you think and cherrypicking the info huh...
