Really love the emphasis that every item we buy is the amount of time we need to work to get it. And asking yourself "am I willing to work x hours to get this?" is really eye-opening. Hope many people see this and I hope we as society start to slowly reconsider how we value our time, our posessions and our energy. I'm ready for that. :)

When it comes to stopping impulse buying I have learned a very simple trick.
I love to shop. Sometimes I do it as a pick-me-up and sometimes out of sheer boredom. Whenever I find myself gravitating toward Amazon for that, I allow myself to shop, to browse and look at whatever I want. Then I click the thing into my basket and then immediately move it to my save for later. In my brain it feels as if I have bought that thing even though I haven't, and having it out of sight a bit allows me to come back to it after a couple of days or a week and decide if I really want it. Often I will delete things on there that I just don't want anymore, but sometimes I will allow myself to pick one thing off there and move it to my basket if I have the money enough for a treat. That way it feels more luxurious a thing than if I had just bought it straight away, more of a treat than it would have felt had I just clicked impulsively and bought it straightaway.

I’m doing a no buy year this year. I’ve already done a cash flow forecast and this give me the motivation knowing at the end what i could save. I tried to do this last year but with COVID that soon went out of the window but I did really well until March. In past years I just spent money without thinking sometimes spending more then I earned and luckily I had savings but long term you can’t keep doing this. Watching these videos also keeps me motivated.

This is the kind of content I need right now! I have a credit card to clear and renovation work to do on the house so we can sell it in the next few years.

Great tips Kay. WelL done for your hard work to achieve your dream. My husband is the saver. If it wasn’t for him and our parents we wouldn’t have been able to get a house five years ago. However, my spending habits have afforded us lovely furnishings and my bottom drawer was so epic that I still haven’t had to buy washing powered, loo roll or cleaning products for four years, which has been so helpful especially in this pandemic. I also second living with parents, I wouldn’t change that time again, especially now looking back spending that time with loved ones. Do it and enjoy it.

Hi Kay, thanks for the great video! My husband and I saved over £30, 000 so that we could travel the world for a year without particularly needing to work. Unfortunately, we chose to set off on our travels at the beginning of 2020 and so Covid19 brought us straight back home to the UK, after only a few months travelling. We worked our butts off to save and used many of the tips you mentioned in your video! ✨

Thank you for the tips! Trying to not beat myself up on junk I’ve bought in the past and just move forward now!

Wait before purchase is a great tip, the longer you think about buying something the more time you have to find the right thing for you, and because you spent so long thinking it over your way less likely to regret your purchase. I end up loving the purchase even more. (I do that for everything not in the standard monthly shop, from printing out pictures, to buying new sheets or towels to getting a new tattoo).

I thought doing 2 jobs was difficult, you bought and lived in a van 😱 Although nowadays there are much easier and better ways to grow your money I respect your grind! Well done! 👏🏾

I'm currently saving for a deposit on a house but because I'll be buying alone, I'd like a bigger deposit x
