Modern suspensions combine a number of moving parts for safe and stable handling. The ball joint is the crucial moving component that ties those parts together. The ball-in-socket joint can wear out and loosen over time. Or, the rubber protective boot can tear, allowing contaminants to seize the joint. Bad ball joints are a common failure point on vehicle inspections because they lead to unsafe driving conditions. Fortunately, they are relatively easy to replace with the right know-how. This video shows you how to install new, quality TRQ ball joints on your 2006-10 Dodge Charger.

This process should be similar on the following vehicles:
2006 Dodge Charger
2007 Dodge Charger
2008 Dodge Charger
2009 Dodge Charger
2010 Dodge Charger

Tools you will need:
• Ball Joint Press
• Snap Ring Pliers
• Brake Parts Cleaner
• Copper Anti-Seize
• Liquid Thread Locker

I want to thank you and other creators for having these EXTREMELY helpful videos, because of your and other videos I was able to successfully change the suspension on my sisters charger. Thanks for giving me the confidence with your helpful videos to help out my family and get comfortable working on cars.

Thank you for a great video! I had been putting off replacing both my ball joints on my Chrysler 300C for 3 years, they both got so bad I had to do it. Passenger one took me 5 hours was very stubborn and removed the entire knuckle like you did in the video and on another day tackled the drivers side and took me 1 hour 50 minutes to do and did not remove the knuckle. But did however have to apply heat to the drivers side one. Replaced both forward lower control arms, rack and pinion and both outer tie rods the same time.

I love it when he gets excited by the old ball joint finally starting to move. "OoOooo!"

You made it look so easy. I have that same ball joint removal kit but I see you're using a different reciever tube. When I use mine, the tube slips off the knuckle because it doesn't seat correctly.

One thing that I've always done when tightening suspension parts is use a second jack to jack up the hub to simulate it sitting on the ground and then torque the bolts. Obviously, this would be much easier if you have a lift. The primary purpose of this is to ensure everything seats properly before tightening. Not sure if it makes a difference, however, I track my car and take any precautions that I can.

I can't say thank you enough for this video!!! Lol. I am working on my '09 Challenger SE (3.5L) and I will be doing all/most of this soon, and this video is definitely MORE helpful than I thought it would be!! (I only thought that because I was ONLY looking for how to remove/replace the lower ball joint and I get a LOT more info on torque specs, and other very useful tips!!!) THANK YOU!!! : ) Don W., OHIO!
PS...I also LOVE how he did this video without all the bs (which includes useless music, lol.) that everyone else seems to think is so cool! Lol... It's just his voice, great useful tips, and tech, and plain and simple!!! : )

Looks like it was running oversized tires. Liner rub and upper ball joint bolt shaved. Nice.

I have dreams of suspension bolts coming of that easy. I live in the middle of Illinois where the cars come off the lot with rust 😂
