Beca growing to accept that she likes being a Bella could easily have been character growth enough. But no we need a token romance that doesn't add anything to the plot at all. Seriously you could remove the entire romance with no real change to the plot at all.

The fact that Anna Kendrick and Skylar Astin have no on-screen chemistry doesn't help either.
