'Could God NOT Kill Children?' A Simple Question Stumps a Christian Pastor #exjw #bible #god

"Could God NOT kill children?" A simple question I asked a Christian pastor named Joe Ensley, when he appeared on Godless Engineer's channel back in November of 2022. His answer, or rather non-answer, was... amazing. So amazing, in fact, I just had to do a breakdown and give a response.

This video talks about the old testament bible passage of Numbers 31:17 and 18, where God commands genocide. Such a command is problematic, especially coming from a god which is supposedly omnipotent, omniscient, and omnibenevolent. This is known as the Problem of Evil, and it's a big challenge to the concept of an all-powerful, all-knowing, and all-loving deity exists.

*An omnipotent god* could accomplish its goals without slaughter *unless slaughter is the goal*

My favorite quote from the movie “Pearl Harbor”
When the imperial naval commander was praised as a brilliant man for his sneak attack plan against the US Naval fleet, he responded “No, a truly brilliant man would find a way to NOT go to war” 🤯

I remember that as a kid, I asked my super religious mom if it was really necessary for god to drown everyone on earth, including little kids with the flood. I said that if I was god I'd just kill the bad people but not the innocent kids, and she said not to worry, that god had a magical way to make it so that those kids didn't suffer when they died and that he made sure to turn them into very special angels, so basically she tried to justify their untimely and horrific deaths with "they got a pretty nice severance package". Seriously, the mental gymnastics and delusions caused by religion are so fkng disturbing.

As soon as Joe brought out the ol’ “angry atheist” trope he quickly lost almost all of his credibly to me.

So I actually just asked this question to a fundamentalist in regards to the flood. You're right: this question breaks their brain. The guy said God could have not killed the children, so when I pointed out that killing innocents violates benevolence, he switched his position to argue that children aren't innocent, including babies, because "humans have a sinful nature."

It's amazing what fundamentalists will say just to avoid criticizing the Bible.

Thing is, people in the "age of grace" still hear voices commanding them to kill their families. We don't call them prophets, we call them crazy.

I appreciate that you humanized this man even though he failed to do so for others.

“God” chose [to kill children] to display his glory.” Yeah, we call that a demon.

"They wouldn't keep talking about it if it wasn't real."

My and my sister were discussing how weird it is how in the"My Little Pony" universe, it's implied that you can't breathe while you're being teleported. Does that make the "My Little Pony" universe real?

What really pisses me off is when they have the nerve to say that the Bible is a moral guide and try to give lessons to everybody...

No Christian has even been able to explain to me the purpose or necessity of prayer.

Tips for Joe:
1. People who deep down believe gods exist are called 'theists'. If angry at those gods they are 'angry theists'.
2. Telling people you know what they believe better than they do is called 'arrogance', 'delusion', and 'outright disrespect'.

This pastor answered 1 simple question with 3 complicated answers, now that's impressive.

"How many unborn babies died in Noah's flood" is one of my favorite brain-shattering questions to ask a Christian. The only answer they can fall back on is, 'those babies had it coming'.

This very question is what started my deconstruction. I was a JW of many years, went to Bethel, pioneered, LDC, "need greater", and an elder when I first started thinking about this. I realized that I had never actually read the whole Bible through and analyzed it. I started doing that 2 years ago and was appalled at the sheer amount of genocide and infanticide in the "Good book." I thought the JW religion was still a force for good even if the Bible wasn't divinely inspired... until I found the courage to look at "apostate" videos and ask the other elders if there was any CSA ever in our hall. Holy shit. There was so much I was never told. Still PIMO and trying to find my way out of this mess but I had no idea how complicated it would be.

Gotta love how god prepared the land for his chosen people, by telling them to kill the people that were living there.

Why put the blood on his people's hands when he could have either teleported them elsewhere, like you said, or deleted them, himself.

Man, I am so sick of other people telling me what I think and believe solely on the fact I claim to be Atheist

Don't forget, the Israelite army initially refused to kill the children, but god punished them for that disobedience by sending a plague.
