The argument made in this "article" of Kotaku is dishonest. There is no issue for gamers having "in world politics" that make sense in the settings of the game, that was never an issue. The issue is with forcing radical identity politics - that most gamers and people object to - that reflect the worldviews of a small radical political minority in California onto a game regardless if it makes sense in the story or for the characters. They are outright gaslighting in this article. They are the ones demonizing and objecting to white European characters and specifically white males from being represented even in their own cultures and historical settings. They are the ones openly hating on white men, wanting to push radical intersectional feminism into beloved male centric franchises as well as remove strong male characters in general from any on-screen representation as MCs in most Western AAA video games whose target audience has always been mostly consistent of boys and men. They deliberately slander gamers and content creators for calling out their racist, sexist and bigoted ideology. They hate Western culture and think they can push their hateful neo Marxist ideology without any opposition.
