Good tips, like the video. I would like to see how it compares starting a map from scratch rather than re-drawing an existing map.

It's like you knew what I was procrastinating.

I like how your 40 minute Map is better then my 4 hour map, and your 4 hour map is better then my 4 months map 😂

Hi!
I draw maps from a young age only with Bic pens by moderating the pressure, but now that some of my friends are interested in D&D I wold like to start making a detailed and accurate map.
Can you make a video where you show your tools for drawing maps? Pens / brushes / sheets etc...?

I think I'd spend more than a few hours just deciding what to name things....

Both the detailed map and this simplified version are amazing, but personally i liked this one better. To me it just looks better (Not saying the original was bad). And it's faster! Which is a BIG bonus!

You can do your outline and upload it to Canva to add trees, mountains, water and other features as well as typing labels.

Have you ever talked about some maps from book fantasy series¿

If that was a map for the players I probably would have changed the compass rose to have east or west be the up and down direction. It's the direction of the rising/setting sun. It was also used in Western Europe for a long time to put the Holy Land as "up".

I'm left handed, I shade my mountains on the "west" side of them. It keeps me from smudging the pigma pen ink.

One of THE best and fastest ways to get super satisfying maps in super fast fashion for me has been using Wonderdraft. I have a HUGE world map which is super detailed and I made the progress like 5 times faster than doing in by hand, even though I had 0 experience with graphical design, using programs like Photoshop etc., and drew it all using a mouse with a bit lower sensitivity.

And it has a black and white theme which is awesome for these super fast under an hour maps. It elevate terrain features create just the best coastlines and naming regions and drawing mountains and forests has never been faster. Best 20$ I ever spent!

Not sure if you're familiar with it, or not, but there is a really neat program called "Otherworld Mapper" that is really good and inexpensive. It's a really snappy program with an active and responsive developer.

Interesting. I would say my largest time consumer is deciding what to draw and where to put it. So a 30hr map easily 50% is my waffling and being creative. The next biggest time water would be time on details ie. Individual trees or the mt. Technique. Simplifying technique and reusing a previous compass rose design would save some time. But for me not the majority of my time. Thanks for another great video.

I don't know if this will get heard because i'm not a patron but here it goes:
i want you to make an updated video on drawing a map in color. I saw your video but i like to have a better analysis on which color to use, which brand to buy and how to use them in tandum with sakura pigma micron pens. If you see this and do this i'll be grateful. Thank You
