As someone who was convicted of a felony when I was younger my advice is to take any job you can.
It may not be were you want to be but you are in the process of rebuilding your reputation and need to establish that you are a reliable person.
Hang in there and do the work. Dave gave excellent advice on having a short and to the point story about what happened if they ask.
Most places at least in my area don't care.
Do the work and stay the course.

I wish this guy the best! We all make mistakes; it seems unfair that he’s not being given a lot of second chances.

This is such a salient conversation as this affects a lot of people and many financial experts do not cover these topics. Thanks for providing great advice, everyone deserves a second chance.

A friend of mine has a similar situation a few years ago. She had a felony when she was 20 and it had been 12 years since. She did the same thing was upfront at the start of the interview and she got the job. So don’t give up.

It's so unfair that this man is being dismissed just because he's not perfect.
We ALL make mistakes.
This entire system needs an overhaul. No wonder people lapse back into drugs and go in and out of jail.

Go into sales, learn soft skills and make sure you never give up. Try smaller companies owned by younger people. Large corporations are very hard to mold and they will run extensive background checks. Try also to get help from family and friends. God bless.

consider trades jobs like plumbing, welding, electrician, and fabrication work, but also explore the rural areas. The major cities I don;t think will be accepting to you. Also try oil rigging / rough necking, but that is dangerous work. After I had to perform some inspections on oil rigs (land) in my past jobs, it looked like every one of those rough necks was a felon. I talked to them, they were fine. I just did my inspection and got out of there. I was seriously way more afraid of the possibility of a blowout or equipment failure than the roughnecks themselves.

A lot of felon's get there CDL license and drive trucks. I worked as a garbage truck driver and there were some guys who went to jail, got out and got their truck driving license. Good luck to him!

I was homeless since 14, got arrested one day after my 18 birthday for armed robbery and did nine years for it and I've been out four years, its very difficult to level up legit with a dangerous crime on your record. if you haven't been caught this is your sign to stop and make yourself valuable to the world.

You would be surprised how hard it is to get a job, if you even have a misdemeanor.

Great video and I hope the caller the best. People deserve a second chance and it is in society's interest for released convicts to be given a realistic chance to reform.

You have to remember that people make mistakes, some worse than others but if people didn't make mistakes they wouldn't learn from them.

He shows up to a roofing or masonry company tomorrow he will be hired as a helper in a minute and then he can learn the job and make decent money. He would fit right in every mason or roofer I know been to jail at least once
