My take on Delta Live Tables, compared to dbt is:

DLT manages the whole pipeline from storage bucket to production-ready data, where dbt is extremely focused on transformation. So dbt is better for transformation-heavy workloads, whereas DLT seems better when the entire pipeline workflow must be managed efficiently.

dbt is an external tool that works on DataBricks and Snowflake, whereas DLT is coupled to DataBricks.


Some say dbt has better testing, but I think that is because it has been around longer and is more mature, and I hope DLT can catch up in that area.

I have searched videos, and the documentation for these test capabilities and have not found anything. Could you please add some documentation for this full suite of testing capabilities?
