How to tell difference between linen, undivided, and real photo postcards

When collecting vintage postcards, look for linen finish, RPPC (real photo postcards) postmarked 1902 - 1918, "undivided" cards, where the address is on the back and the message is on the front (1901 - 1907). Desirable collectible cards include animated scenes of people in action, playing sports, as well as resorts, boats, trains, airplanes, and bridges.

Edit: despite their name, linen postcards are not made from flax! Rather, the textured paper resembles flax fabric, hence the name. I'm learning :)
