Tallest Full-scale Building Ever Built on an Earthquake Simulator Put to the Test at UC San Diego
Показать описание
Kudos to the #NHERITallwood team for the successful simulations today of the 1994 6.7 magnitude Northridge (CA) earthquake and the 1999 7.7 Chi Chi (Taiwan) earthquake on the UC San Diego shake table! The 10-story building is the tallest full-scale structure to ever be tested on a shake table, in six degrees of freedom (east/west, north/south, up and down, and roll pitch and yaw).
This incredible test was made possible by the National Science Foundation (NSF)-funded upgrade of the UC San Diego shake table. It is one of the two largest shake tables in the world and the only large-scale earthquake table located outdoors, making it ideal for testing tall buildings.
