For me, the James Cameron titanic model at 1/20 scale is the best titanic scale model ever.

Jason King's most recent scratch-built Titanic model should have been mentioned. His work is incredible.

I thought "raise the titanic" was a decent movie to be honest. I liked the plot

Titanic's 4th funnel was not just for show IRL. It's connected to the only working fireplace, the kitchen, smoking room and even vented the turbine room. The plans even have a pipe sticking out the back.

The 45-foot model was built by Digital Domain. But there was also a 1:8 scale model used in the Cameron film. The switch was made from the lights going out (45-foot model) to the 1:8 scale model, which breaks and is then seen sinking. This model was 65-feet long, 12 feet wide and 22 feet from the keel to the top of the funnels. We also did the Poop Deck at 1:4 scale, which you see at the end of the sinking, with 'TITANIC' going under the waves. The black and white photo you show is out of place. It is of Don Pennington and the crew that built the hull for the 65-foot half-ship. Only half because the rest of it is under water when they cut to that part of the sequence. The hull crew was a company that built real racing catamarans. This hull had to take the tortures of the breaking shot, but not be overly heavy.

Irony is The Britannic was and still is the worlds largest replica of the Titanic with the exception of some alterations, it's also still viewable today.

I'm impressed. I'm a scale modeler myself and I just got to say very excellent.

I've been to the Pigeon Forge museum, and it's quite impressive! It's almost like seeing the ship in its prime, and has so many facts to learn! Brynjar's Lego model was there too, and its detail is incredible! I totally recommend that museum to any Titanic enthusiasts!

I just recently found out that Cameron's 775 foot movie set replica is only 90% to scale. It's still huge, but everything you see is about ten percent smaller than the actual ship was. Regardless, it was still very impressive.

Titanic is a grave site that needs to be left alone out of respect of those who lost their lives that early morning there shouldn’t be a another titanic

Imagine making a miniature between the 45 foot model used in the Cameron model and the 55 foot model used in Raise the Titanic.

I think that we should do what we can do that the memory of the titanic doesn’t get lost, a replica would be neat. But it should not sail and it should be a non profit museum. No financial gain should ever happen because of the fact that people died.

I remember seeing the model that was used for the movie A Night To Remember when I was a kid 50 years ago. I thought it was over 60' and would be rank as one of the longest models.

The shooting model from the 1953 movie TITANIC with Barbara Stanwick, still exists, about 20ish ft long, in the Titanic museum in Fall River Mass, under the bridge and next to the USS Massachusetts Battle ship.

I was just waiting for the titanic museum cause I love in the area and have went twice it’s beautiful you can dip your hand in the water that it sank in and you can talk to people that have seen the wreck and have souvenirs it’s just incredible how much detail they put into the museum if you get the chance go it’s so worth it

The irony is that if it was not sunk at it's maiden voyage, in the horrific way we all know now, it probably never was famous. Maybe sunk in WW 1 or 2, or scrapped in one way or another...

They have a really nice 20 foot one on display in the Luxor Casino in Las Vegas at the TItanic exhibit.
