How to Pump a Tire with Presta & Schrader Tubes

The Presta and Schrader Valves. These two tubes are the most common in North America.

Most pumps out there will be able to pump a Presta or Schrader Valve. Unless it's like a pump from 1990.

Presta Tubes use a metal stem which makes it stronger, and are great for high pressured tires.
Schrader Tubes are the most commonly used. (Note: If you find your stem goes into an angle, you are not using enough air pressure. Check tire for the minimum amount that should be pumped)

There are two other stems that you may see. Dunlop AV(Metal sized Schrader) and another also known as Woods Valve. You can use the Presta Adaptor to pump that one up.

Reminder: Always keep the minimum amount required by the tire, or else you could get a flat, and possibly damage your rim.

When pumping at a gas station, their output pressure is high. You will only need a shot or two to get required pressure. DO NOT hold in place, or else BOOM!

Agree with some of the other comments, that I watched several videos on how to inflate a tube with a presta valve and you were the only one who explained the pump adapter. Incidentally, my pump doesn't convert to presta, but my tires came with adapters, but i wasn't aware I had to remove them, unscrew the presta, replace the adapter and pump. Thanks for explaining this.

Great video. Played with a Bell pump at Walmart for 10 minutes trying to figure out how to convert the pump to Presta. Also the tip to leave the adapter on the stem is very clever! Thank you.

got a new bike tube with Presta valve, spent two plus hours trying to
pump with my new Topeak Peakini pump. Just about ready to go
back to the shop and I find this "Jackpot" of a video. The pump was set for
Shrader and I was clueless until Now! Picture instructions were micro small on box.
