Maybe Penelope was more upset about the post-death reveal that her husband was a LIAR rather than the infidelity. She forgave what she knew of the indiscretions in life, but knowing her husband couldn’t honor her sacrifices enough to give her the whole story while they were alive after all that she went through the repel the suitors and take care of their son might have been the straw that broke the camel’s back on everything. I am just going to headcanon that maybe your wife who is legendarily known for being clever would have accepted you had to sleep with coercive goddesses and witches who roofied you was more insulted at being babied/‘protected’ from the whole truth and being unable to make a truly informed decision in life, knowing the modern-ish moral reinterpretations that the Hades games give to update the characters for this retelling.

I am totally 100% for Penelope ending things amiably though.

He didn’t spend all that time trying to get back to her then kill all her suitors, and she didn’t wait all that time and stall for so long for his homecoming just TO BREAK UP IN THE AFTERLIFE

I wish they were still together in the after life, I’m a huge Greek Mythology nerd, and their relationship in myths is just so good. For one, Odysseus was one of Helen’s suitors, Helen’s father was having trouble choosing who would be Helen’s husband because he feared offending the other suitors, so Odysseus said he would help but on one condition- that Helen’s father set him up with his niece, Penelope. So from the start he wanted Penelope over the most beautiful woman in all of Greece. When he’s on Calyspo’s island he straight up tells her than even though she’s younger, and more beautiful than Penelope, he still prefer Penelope over her because he’s deeply in love with her. I just hate that they aren’t together after death, because in my opinion it doesn’t suit them at all

In the myths Odysseus didn't willingly sleep with Calypso, she forced herself on him, that wasn't his fault.

Edit: There are multiple versions of the myth, I stand corrected, I don't have objective knowledge of Greek Mythology.

So I don't know a whole lot about odysseus's myth but wasn't he like drugged by the nymph Queen and like several other goddesses I don't know if wrong but isn't he a victim

the version of odysseus that cheats on penelope and penelope cheats on odysseus is actually the roman one, where he's ulysses. he willingly stays with calypso and circe there, and penelope ends up sleeping with the suitors too. the romans were less forgiving of ulysses and the greeks because they saw the trojans as their ancestor via aeneas (see the aeneid by virgil), one of the heroes of troy. that said, in homer's odyssey, calypso was straight up nonconsensual. he cries every night on the beach for penelope. circe, on the one hand, was transactional, where he had to sleep with her to set his men free (still pretty much nonconsensual too). idk why but it seems like hades 2 is kinda following the roman version??? because in the odyssey, they end up happily married again once he finished with the suitors. idk why they would separate in the afterlife?? though of course the game still isnt complete but.... well

i know the game is probaly taking a lot of inspiration from books like madaline millers circe, just like song of achilles.
But damn, I really don't want her work to end up just leaving such a negative impact on other peoples works, its a good book but REALLY does NOT translate to any other characterization of these characters,

Wasn't Penelope hung because when Odysseus came back, he saw all the suitors after her and decided that she had cheated? I always hated odysseus because of that too. So if they're separated props to Penelope
