Don't forget that Gen V gave us the most individual pokemon out of all the generations, and virtually the only ones that get roasted for their designs are Trubbish and Garbodor.
When you can add 156 individual designs and onky 2 of them get clowned on, you did something right.

Gen 5 gave us lots of cool mons like haxorus, the starters, cute victini, the tao trio, gigalith, krookodile, zoruark, golurk, hydreigon, volcorona, the swords of justice, etc

Gen 2 litrely was supposed 2 be an expansion of gen 1, they replicated the charmander lines stats with cyndaquil line. And God the level scaling is horrible. U can't get any of the cool new mons until post game like t, tar and houndoom. And u have ledian, and miltank. The dex is almost a big a joke as dnp. The only good things are a set few cool mons like ampharos, tyranatar, lantern, houndoom, scizor and crowbat also the eeveelutions. No wonder they give u a level 30 gyrados in the mid game. Gen 5 was a reboot, it was unique, it wasn't perfect, but had the best sprites. It was a good idea that was good, but not peak

Gen 5 was a soft reboot. I like it. First game I actually took seriously and beat the league.

I hated gen 5 when it came out, but I now love so many of the designs. Reshiram, Zekrom, and Kyurem are a really cool trio. Hydreigon is a great design. Reuniclus is one of my favorites. Golurk is a fun ghost type. Excadrill is cool. Electross and Lilligant are up there with my all time favorites. The gen tried to reboot pokemon, and made a lot of really good reimaginings of Gen 1 ideas, while not completely overwriting them.
