important little tid bit: If you sell your stocks at a loss on one brokerage and buy them back within 30 days on another account you will still trigger a wash sale. So watch out for that if you go to sell and buy

I like the functionality of Robinhood but I am not approved for fractional shares on Robinhood. I have fractional shares on M1 but am frustrated with the clunky pie system on M1 because it won't let me easily add new shares without selling others. If I want to transfer fractional shares to Robinhood will Robinhood let me transfer the fractional shares in kind?

You answered my exact question, I just now opened a M1 Plus account, I am transferring my ETFs from ETrade to M1 and I wasn't sure if I should create a portfolio in M1 with the same ETFs that I am transferring in? I was hesitant because I connected to my bank and that requires a $100 initial transfer, so I really don't want to invest my $100 into those ETFs because I don't think I want to keep them any longer (ARKG, ARKK) because I am now down on those holdings, so I may just sell them now since there should not be any tax implications where I have to pay capital gains. Correct me if I am thinking wrong please. :-). Also, I liked and subscribed!

This was very helpful to answer the questions that I had. I also wanted to say that I don't think you made a mistake because you could not predict the market. Unless you knew the market was going to crash when you made your transfer, it was unavoidable. If you did foresee the market crash, please let me know how!

So do i hav to already build the same portfolio on M1 finanace before transfering? For example if, on Robinhood, I hav $75 on VOO and $25 on VTI, I would then hav to build a portfolio in M1 finanace with 75% VOO pie and 25% VTI pie? Or would M1 finance will just adjust the percentage accordingly and added those stock on my pie automatically? Thank you!
