In today's video, I'm going to talk about the Zettelkasten method created by Niklas Luhmann. This method is described in the book How to Take Smart Notes by Sonke Ahrens.

First of all, the Zettlekasten method, which is the German word for something like a Slip-box or a box of notes, allowed Niklas Luhmann to write over 50 books and write several articles.

This method consists of combining notes in a way that different subjects can relate to each other, generating new ideas, new questions, and answers.

To understand the method, I divided the process into five steps:
1 - Take notes;
2 - Put them in a Box of Notes;
3 - Add some context;
4 - Create connections;
5 - Put the Note Box to work.

I´m using this Zettlekasten method and it's really helpful!

nice introduction, BUT the distinction between fleeting notes and permanent notes isn´t really mentioned by Luhmann anywhere. It seems to be an interpretation/speculation by Ahrens.

Misleading thumbnail, nothing about annotating books (Highlighting). He just babbles about Zettlekasten.
