The Zettelkasten method goes back to Niklas Luhmann, a German sociologist who in academic circles is famous for his systems theory and his incredible productivity. What made him so productive was his unique way of note-taking and knowledge management, in the form of the Zettelkasten.

In this video I talk about what the Zettelkasten method is, who it's for and how it works in a digital environment. At the end of this video – Zettelkasten Method For Beginners · Simply Explained – you can decide for yourself if this method is something for you.

I want to make a video about the future of note-taking and knowledge management in the age of AI. Any questions or talking points I should address in it? Let me know! ✍

One of the most straightforward guides on the Zettelkasten method. You capture the essentials in a video and let people do the research on those things they didn't get (like the numbering system). Cheers from Chile 🇨🇱

Thank you for this amazing video! You really have a talent in explaining these sorts of concepts!
Also, I absolutely love the decor behind you in this video! That type of old, wooden furniture is truly breath-taking.

I'd obviously heard of this before, but I hadn't realized I've been sort of doing this for a while. The one thing I haven't really been doing is reviewing it that often. Thank you for this video.

I came here for a German voice to give me the skinny version of this concept and was not disappointed. Saved me hours of scouring any further the wasteland of clickbait.

Thanks for this! I can type faster than I can write, and I like that I can search on words in the text. The hashtags help in that regard to think of keywords.

Thank you or "Dankeschön" for taking the time creating this video. Good work. The background is very nice, if you live in there you are very lucky.

I see a lot of ideas as a Digital 2D/3D artist, sometimes its training material, its images, maybe a para from a book by an author describing a landscape be it's a gaming tool description on how to enable a particular feature in the software, or just a windows registry tweaking note is it possible to use this method to collect and organize such information. How do I connect using Obsidian should I use YAML-type properties or tags. How do I connect/ remember or make it available when I am looking for an idea.

So you’re saying this method doesn’t work for language learning?

I am still a bit confused about how you store the notes so they are easily retrievable using this method. If anyone could help clarify this, it would be greatly appreciated.

A great tool but I am concerned that using the digital tools for this note taking system we are providing more free material to AI and its offshoots?
