In this episode, I talk with Dr. Neal Barnard, the founder of the Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine (PCRM) about his new book "Your Body in Balance" and why he decided to research and write about hormone health. We also talked about what it was like growing up on a cattle farm, how he got into medicine, type 1 vs type 2 diabetes, overcoming unhealthy food cravings, and his band "Carbonworks."

Dr. Barnard has so many projects on the go at any one time it boggles the mind. Thank you both for this interview.

Another great interview, Tino. Dr. Barnard is such a lovely, likable man with such benevolent energy, and so much knowledge! TFP : )

Thank you for sharing this.
I was crying when you started talking about women's fertility, I suffered from fertility issues. I have been to so many specialist doctors over many years to try to have a child and no success also I have been gravely ill for years and I searched for reasons why I was so sick and every doctor said take this pill or that pill never once recommended a nutrition change so out of desperation I started studying myself and came to plant based diet and as I got better I became confused as to why multiple doctors in specialtys from fertility, endocrinology, digestive specialist and family practice doctors and fertility specialist all said loose weight you will be fine. Never giving a direction to do so. Never getting to the source of the problem. I am on a health recovery journey. I am glad this information is getting out there so maybe a younger woman than myself can see how she has a chance to get pregnant by changing food choices.
I wish I learned this when I was younger. 46 is a bit to late in life to have a child. I adopted so I am all good but at least I know and can apply for the rest of my life good healthy choices . I cant wait to get his book .

Nice interview! I really like this extended, one-on-one format for the interview. Lots of little new ideas to glean from this conversation. Congrats!

Today is day 3 of a very low fat vegan diet (with 2 prep days of lower but not NO fat) after veering off into low carb/high fat vegan-land. I'm already sleeping better with more carbs.

Too much estrogen can cause endometrial cancer which I had. I had a hysterectomy in November. My cancer was aggressive but I didn't need chemo or anything. My uterus was thickened too but I have a large pituitary tumor so I wasn't having periods for over 20 years until I went on birth control. Been vegan for over 8 years too. Now I am dealing with surgical menopause yay me lol
