Ok, I see a lot of comments saying if you're a gamer + Creator (meaning editing gameplay) there's nothing wrong with the X3D CPU. Absolutely, and also nothing wrong with any CPU if that's the one you have. The point is if you're a gamer first and that's the priority, then the X3D CPUs are the best ones for you. And I'd argue that the gameplay you edit get's accelerated on the GPU regardless (h.264/265). But if you're a creator first and think getting the X3D CPU is the best option for you, then that's what I was trying to explain in this video. The X3D CPU will perform slower than the non 3D cache CPU in pretty much every creator benchmark and I believe you would be better off getting a CPU that's better for your creator Workflow that can also game, perhaps not as good as the X3D CPU, . Here's a question then, wouldn't the non 3D CPU be better gaming+creator CPU if it's actually better for Content Creation but worse for gaming? I guess whatever you prioritise more! As a creator I'd lean towards the non 3D CPU. you?

It surprises me how many huge channels that do productivity tests do not mention the media engine on the 11th Gen Intel CPU's and up. All they really test is a synthetic benchmark, playback of a single piece of footage or they just test the encode times. Makes me glad I found this channel.

The X3D CPUs actually makes sense if you do both gaming and content creation. obviously the price gap is depends on your budget.. maybe you can save some extra on the CPU cooler since x3Ds are only 120W

If you are a gamer and content creator, and have the budget for it, there is nothing wrong going with 7950X3D

AMD's X3D CPUs are useful when you find a program (game or other) that knows how to manage the additional L3 cache memory. In the cases where you use games that don't know what to do with such amounts of extra cache, the X3D has no advantage at all. It's often even worse, because the clock speeds are actually quite lower on those CPUs. This is why I have chosen to buy a 7900X instead.

For me as a creator ( streamer really) I got the raven 7950x3d purely because there was a crazy sale at my my local Canadian retailer where I got the CPU + b650 board+ 32gb of ddr5 6000 for $900. Originally my budget was to go for the 7900x non 3d but the bundle ended up costing less. Though my situation was definitely far from the norm with that deal

My 13900ks beats my 14900k so that one I disagree with

Everyone talks about X3D as a benefit for gaming but this one is also better at:

3D Simulations and Rendering: The 3D V-Cache accelerates the calculations needed for fabric simulations, 3D modeling and rendering.
Video editing and graphic design: Applications that require quick access to large data sets benefit from the larger cache.
Code Compilation: 3D V-Cache reduces latency and improves performance when compiling programs.
Data analysis and scientific calculations: In tasks involving large data sets, such as simulation analysis or mathematical calculations, the extended cache is advantageous.

for gaming and content creation I would take an Intel cpu but if I just want to game, I'll take de 7800x3d for sure, if I need some production then I'll probably go for a 13th gen i7 or something around that, the i9 seems so overkill if u don't need that much

There's another advantage to having an iGPU. If your graphics card dies or you're trying to troubleshoot you can still use and test the machine.

And here's me gaming and streaming from my 7-8 yeah old never changed the thermal paste i7 4790K.
Would like a 7800X3D though.

It is not bad to have the F in intel, because without the iGPU the CPU runs a bit cooler and usually it is a bit cheaper.

The 7950X3D is amazing and it sips power at full load.

Five years ago I made the mistake of buying an i5-9600F. I had a spare GPU card so I thought I was so smart to buy a CPU without an iGPU. I saved almost $30!
Turns out that it wasn't so smart. Two years ago I built a new 13th generation PC and used some of the the old parts to make a PC that would only run web and Office applications. I didn't want to use my GPU card for this. So I ended up getting a used i3 CPU with an iGPU. The i5-9600F CPU now sits in a drawer with other unneeded parts.
Another factor in favor of getting a CPU with an iGPU is even if you don't do any video editing the iGPU used in conjunction with a video compression utility such a HandBrake makes it worth the price. I have a Plex server now and I usually recompress the "extras" that come with many DVD and Blu-Ray movies. Compressing the files with the iGPU option enabled is 5 -10 times FASTER than compressing using only the CPU!

Thank you as always for you great insights. 😊
I recently added an intel ARC 310 and disabled the intel iGPU and I was amazed by the qsync performance. Faster than the iGPU.
This makes options like the threadripper more appealing since you can now get both by having an Nvidia AND I cheap Intel ARC.
Just saying.

The acceleration of game code is not directly related to the X3D cache, but to many years of bias in the code, the lack of SIMD optimization on AMD FPU and the use of slow ALUs in the game code. CPUs with X3D have a lower maximum frequency, but by optimizing the structure/order of current data, they will be able to outperform their faster counterparts without a 3D cache ;).

If you have the time, could you possibly do a video on power surge/outage protection for pc, router etc? Thank you! With winter here, I'm experiencing this often. I know surge protectors are helpful, but that they also wear out. Anyhow, I'd appreciate it. Thank you!

3:00 doesn't really apply when not working that isn't H.265 4:2:2 video - H.265 4:2:0/4:4:4 or H.264 4:2:0/4:2:2/4:2:0 all work
I wonder why nvidia left out 4:2:2 ????

He keeps saying 14900k while the screen says 13900k...

Went with 13500 because you recommended it. The price to performance is really worth it. Might not be the best processor but it works for almost everything I throw at it. Temperature never gets above around 65 degrees, the power draw isn't absurdly high for an intel, and I can multitask no problem.
