Immanuel Kant about God

Immanuel Kant (22 April 1724 – 12 February 1804) was a German philosopher and one of the central Enlightenment thinkers. Born in Königsberg, Kant's comprehensive and systematic works in epistemology, metaphysics, ethics, and aesthetics have made him one of the most influential figures in modern Western philosophy.

It is not God's will merely that we should be happy, but that we should make ourselves happy.
The human heart refuses to believe in a universe Without a purpose.
Reason can never prove the existence of God.
Give me matter, and I will construct a world out of it!
The ideal of the supreme being is nothing but a regulative principle of reason which directs us to look upon all connections in the world as if they originated from an all-sufficient necessary cause.

God put a secret art into the forces of Nature so as to enable it to fashion itself out of chaos into a perfect world system.
Two things awe me most, the starry sky above me and the moral law within me.
Religion is too important a matter to its devotees to be a subject of ridicule. If they indulge in absurdities, they are to be pitied rather than ridiculed.
He who has made great moral progress ceases to pray.

Well, this is true to some extent, but Kant's argument for the existence of god is also somewhat different than those such as ontological for example. He provided us with a "moral argument for the existence of god", it is that the categorical imperative is the "objective morality" which is derived from God. Morality cannot be all subjective and from our hearts, therefore, the existence of God is what provides the universality and "objective" morality.

A "Regulative Principle" is a bit hard to worship or to pray to.

He's wrong about one thing. You absolutely can prove it with reason.
