The Los Angeles Wildfires: I’m OK. LA Is Not.

As wildfires wreak havoc on areas of Los Angeles, people are asking questions: Why isn’t there enough water for the fire hydrants? Why did the new mayor cut the firefighting budget? Why was the mayor in Africa when the fire broke out? Why has the fire department and its leadership seemingly focused on diversity and inclusion at the expense of preparedness? This is a complete failure of the state’s leadership and people should be held accountable.

The mayor decided to cut the budget of the fire department in a portion of the country that is known to have massive wildfires every year. She ought to be billed for the cost of damages and funeral expenses for firefighters and citizens who lost their lives.

My Family and I had to evacuate. My Home is Gone, my Son and Daughters Daycare is gone and so many stores and places we once knew are all burning. It feels like a scene from a Movie about the end of the world. I pray all families make it out okay. This is absolutely horrifying

I live in Southern California and our homeowners insurance got canceled last month because of the fire issues and there are no available insurance companies. It’s crazy.Our state is so mismanaged.

I would love to hear Newsom and Bass explain to my 77 year old Godmother who lost her home in Altadena last night that they cut the budgets to fire departments and sent fire equipment to the Ukraine. This is what happens when an entire state is mismanaged. We deserve better than what we are experiencing.

Control burning is used to clear the underbrush that can ignite a fire. It is the equivalent of deep cleaning your home by clearing up vegetation that should not be in the forest. At the same time, the ash acts as a fertilizer to replenish the plants when it grows back.

Just saw LA mayor stepping off plane from Ghana, where she was cornered by a reporter asking about her absence, her cutting the fire department budget, and Elon calling her "incompetent". She stood there like a dummy, not saying one word. Enjoy your DEI mayor LA.
