This is probably one of the top 2 "gotcha" moments on Columbo, along with "Suitable for Framing" where Ross Martin is claiming entrapment only for Columbo to pull his hands out of his pockets to reveal he's wearing gloves.

I love this gotcha, it shows that Columbo is a great cop as well as a perfect detective.

Unlike most other cop shows, Columbo never has to bend the rules to nab someone, he simply outsmarts them by fooling the killer into thinking he's a disorganized bumbling oaf.

He does everything by the book and checks out every false lead to know for sure who the killer is and how they did it.

Columbo is the best!
