How to pass a knot in the rope - IRATA Level 1 Training

In this video you will learn how to pass a knot in the rope when ascending and descending. If we find a damaged spot in the rope we use the Butterfly knot to isolate that damaged spot. That way we can still use the rope safely to go back down or up to exchange the rope for a new one. Or sometimes ropes might just be to short and we need to tie them together. In that case we also need to know how to pass the knots in a rope. I will show you three methods of doing this.
Now for the attentive reader and viewer... What did you notice? I have been leaving little things that could be a point of conversation is a couple of the video's. Did you see??

I am struggling passing knot while ascending, I cannot seem to keep the rope close enough to chest long enough to lock my chest ascender. What could I do, or what am I not doing correctly? Is there anyway I can manipulate the footloop so when I step up I am closer to the rope?

Question, so when you pass the knots only using 1 backup on the backup line, you clip the butterfly knot directly to your point A on the harness with a karabiner as this is the fall arrest point.

When you do the second pass on the back up line using an overhand knot in the buttfly knot bite to create a clip in point above the damage section, you clip in the cows tail which is attached to the main front ring on the harness where your decender is cliped on, not the fall arrest ring point A.

Is this a mistake or is it ok, thought the back up should allways be on fall arrest point A?

Hello Alex, your videos are good. is getting more and more exciting. With you it looks so easy that you convert it to a chest ascender and ID and vice versa. Really exhausting for me, do you have any tips? The best way to position the Petzl ASCENSION is to pull it up with both hands, that's how I do it? Really heavy with one hand.

Why don't you use your upper ascender to create a second point of attachment to place the Asap under the knot?

is one of the alternate way to put the handascender on the backuprope?

Thanks for these video courses. I'm just wondering why you keep using a second pair of ropes besides your main two ropes that you're hanging off. You're not using them at all, yet you keep pulling them close to you without really using them, just curious. Also, is it okay to open up your croll without a backup in your main line?

Rope access method is like a boon in modern world for working at typical critical height locations

You can use 2 descenders by brining 1 knot higher up so long as the 2 knots are not similar in height, then you just descend cross over bla bla

okokok so never knowing that this existed before and wanting to climb big ass buildings like jtf2 and seal team 6 and stuff... im looking at this and bro like it looked so difficult for me to follow along, and im only looking at this cuz i applied for a (rat) job and like bro just disconnect from rope and climb that bitch like tarzan... if you managed to make it to the damage without dieing youre already lucky enough so fuck it... be a man... xD
