I'm planning on retiring March 1, 2023. I'm currently under employer insurance plan. I need to self-enroll into Medicare. Here's the question. When should I sign up? If I start the process at the beginning of Feb, will that allow ample time to process paperwork. Or when would the best time frame be to sign up? Thanks in advance. BTW these videos have been EXTREMELY HELPFUL .

People talk about a penalty if we enroll after the 3 month window of our 65th birthday. I called a number and was told as long as i have work coverage I can delay enrollment. I didn't have to do anything now until I'm ready and there is no penalty. Is this true. I'm getting concerned now as I have no 'receipt' from the phone call, in other words I can't prove the information I got. Is there a penalty?

So enrolling into Medicare Parts A and B is the first step. Then you go elsewhere to enroll in a Medigap plan and a third place to enroll in a drug plan? Not the SSA site. I get that right?
