The stove you did this test on does not appear to have it's own regulator, so your statement of looking for 11"WC is correct. If it had it's own regulator you would need to check the name plate data for what it's working LP pressure is, most likely 10" WC.(so you would not see 11"WC) That's one reason for going with time test using 8" WC.(getting pressure below the second regulator in the LP circuit.)

This was very helpful and enjoyable to watch! Good luck on your channel. I think if you keep going you will do very well :) Really good talker

Excellent video! Very clear instructions and process for diagnosing a possible propane leak with a manometer (doo-doo-doo-doo). Going to share this video with others and as a certified tech I appreciate your willingness to help customers understand their rig and its systems. Well done!

You want 11" WC with a 50% load applied. to test the regulator. the reading should be 11" WC if it's not adjust or replace regulator, then you must shut off the 50% load and lockout the system. it should not go over 14" WC if it does bad regulator or adjust, if it stays below 14" then you may resume to do the drop test at 8" WC!

My Airstream has a low pressure quick connect on the front a-frame. RVTI describes a test setup using two valves and an orifice for a 50 percent flow rate. Are you aware of an acceptable test that can be performed outside the trailer, either at the output of the two stage regulator, or at the propane quick connect?

You missed an important step. How do you know that gas valve on the stove that you are using for your test isn’t leaking by? Since your meter is hooked up. When your test is over close the valve you are using for your test. Open and BURN off the propane in the system using another burner. System pressure should be zero and your manometer should hold pressure. You are now testing the valve for leak by.

Okay….so say your reading is 1…not 11 what do you do next? I’ve replaced the regulator, followed the lines there are no leaks or clogs. I don’t know…

Don’t you need to be certified to break a propane line to do a test?

why not do the pressure drop test just below the regulator that way you can correct the regulator pressure with the screw and check the pressure?
