Inhabitants of Russia originally came from Ukraine and I don't see why President Vladimir Putin resorted to war when he could peacebly settle Russis's differences with Ukraine considering it is a world superpower and Ukraine is no nowhere near it.

I'ts not about expanding its land area. Ukraine is more Russian than European (they were one country before) and Putin is just protecting his country and pple . Ukraine asked to become a member of NATO and if accepted by NATO allies, then the enemies of Russia would just be knocking at its door. Remember Ukraine shares its eastern border with Russia. With NATO in Ukraine what do you think will happen? It would be easy for the US to gobble up Russia just like what they did to Ferdinand Marcos and his govt., to libya, iraq, afghanistan, Syria, etc.
