The last 4 months were quiet at the canopener bridge - presumably due to construction and frequent road closures on Gregson St. right at the bridge and on the stretch south of the tracks. However yesterday, on April 26 - a camper trailer had some of its rooftop equipment removed at the canopener bridge. This was recorded as crash # 175 since April 2008.

The bad news is they lost their air conditioning but the good news is the camper now fits under the bridge.

incredible how people interpret 'overheight must turn' as 'ill just go slow and itll be fine'

No matter how sneaky or clever you think you are, the bridge always takes their due.

I never get tired of the "maybe if I go slowly I can sneak past it" approach

I love how the guy realizes he might be too high for the bridge and then decides to go slower as if that will make his camper shorter.

If he sticks to this strategy during his holiday trip, he can safely pass 6 foot bridges on his way back home.

This simply never gets old. It's truly the gift that keeps on giving.

It's a well known fact that going slow will automatically lower your vehicle, thereby allowing you to pass under any bridge.

Rumor has it if you sneak up on the bridge you gain 6" of clearance!

I love when they slowly crawl up to the bridge, as if that somehow makes them smaller

Doesn't matter how many warning signs this town puts up. There is always gonna be someone who thinks they don't apply to them. Someone could open a business on the other side of the bridge that fixes all the damage done by this bridge & probably make a good living off of it

I almost want to make a pilgrimage to this bridge, just so I can pay my respects in person to its enduring legacy.

Man, they really ought to consider some kind of automated warning system that detects overheight vehicles and flashes a big sign that tells them they have to turn. Otherwise, this is going to keep happening.

I completely forget the existence of this channel till every so often i get the notification that the bridge has claimed another victim. This truly is the perfect channel to ring the bell for.

There absolutely has to be a perfect ratio of slowing down just enough that the bridge grows. We haven't found it yet but the people will never stop trying to find it.

I love the thinking of “oh, this looks dangerous— maybe if I just go really slow, everything will be fine?”

It's been a while, good to see the bridge is still in charge.

What amazes me is that, even though you can hear the thing tearing up and surrounding vehicles honking at him, the guy just keeps on going.

People ignore signs. They think they are for someone else. They'd have to put the person's name on screen for it to even register and even then, they think it was another Bob. The piece that falls off at the end is gold. lol 0:48
