The ADHD no skin picking challenge is HARD #skinpicking #adhd #adhdstruggles

I struggle with skin picking due to ADHD and I swear I try hard, but I couldn't even hold back FOR A DAY. I was REALLY trying!

Mostly this happened due to inattentive and impuslive behaviour, I didn't squeeze intentionally, but instead did so while working or doing something else and being distracted.

thank you for not being afraid to show this on the internet. i feel like everyone who makes videos either has perfect skin or makeup + filter, i havent seen anyone w any amount of blemishes or skin problems recently.
I have the same problem, I skin pick and it only makes it worse and I worry it will scar too.
I relate so much to you and we're even from the same country (🇧🇬❤️), it might sound a little parasocial of me but it makes me feel less alone because you struggle with many of the exact same things that I struggle with and I see myself in you. I'm happy for every upload! 💛thank you for doing what you do

literally the only ways that helped me were fake nails, gloves, and moisturizer. I'm still not perfect at avoiding it, but I do it a lot less

Your so brave…I don’t talk about it but I also have ADHD and it’s really bad so picking at my face feels like playing with a toy.😢❤

When I have to work on a desk I pick unconsciously to stay on task. My goal is to pick less as opposed to not pick at all. Tiny steps

The answer to this is fake nails. I had a major picking my skin problem from like my whole life. A lot of people in my family have the same problem. But the one thing that I found that completely stopped me from being able to do it was putting on long, fake nails. Like the acrylic ones. Because I can still scratch and get the satisfaction of scratching an itch but I can’t break the skin anymore. And even if I have like an old scab or something, it’s not enough to create a worse wound. It’s just enough to like maybe peel off the skin but I can’t do any more damage. So I 100% recommend it even though it’s a bit of an expensive fix but at least it like helps you have clear skin.

I also keep trying, have gotten so much better and my skin is finally able to heal a bit, but it’s hard and overwhelming. Keep trying!

Omg I have a HUGE problem with skin picking!! I have some tips though!! So first of all, it takes 30 days to develop a habit and 30 days to break one!! Anytime you feel the urge to pick you just need to keep your hands busy!! I couldn’t even read a book or watch tv without picking!! You could try wearing fake nails or keeping your nails really short! But the one thing that’s been helping me the most is I squeeze my hands into a fist and count to 15 and when I’m done counting I tell my self to stop and I try to have self control! So now I squeeze my hands a lot to stop the picking!! Once you get through one day you have to congratulate yourself and it will feel good and you’ll hopefully think “I already made it through one day so I can’t break my streak” I hope these tips help and it all starts with believing in yourself!!!

a few years back i had a similar problem and my face had the same kind of red spots. i think what really motivated me to stop was the scarring that i was beginning to get which i didn’t want. now i have only few faint scars YOU CAN DO IT GIRL

Thank you!!! I do EXACTLY the same, but even to the extent that then mine get infected with staph and other type infections just on the face. It gets worse, really bad when I am supper stressed and can’t deal with the stress. It’s like stimming for me, or a dopamine hit when I am feeling no way out and backed into a corner by ny family’. I hate it, but know how easy it is to do it without realising, also losing track of time when I start and then boom a few hours is gone .. just gone missing be standing in front of a magnifying mirror. The stress from family members causes me to focus on my skin I think to escape or divert my attention away from particular issues, and jump into a new skin problem and get carried away… doing anything to get away from the pain. I have been licking my hands my whole life, since I was like 10… my hands are so bad I even get RSI from fiddling/repetitive movement to run or pick.

Please look up psychodermatology and psychodermatologists - they specialize in educating, caring for and treating individuals with skin picking (and hair pulling) behaviours and are versed in the connection between psychological habits and self-soothing/dopamine seeking and boredom busting behaviours and skin picking/hair pulling. There is so much compassionate and supportive information out there to help you understand the soothing but heartbreaking habit (compulsion) and ways to divert oneself to other calming/satisfying behaviours ❤

I just started doing this. I'm like is it because of anxiety? I had this one by my ear. It would heal. I'd pick it again like I'm addicted to picking scabs. You have to put a band-aid on it. That is literally the only way I won't touch it

I join the Dermatillomania Club, Antonia (for me, nail skin and lip skin picking, since childhood) 😣

I overcame this condition and what I would recommend is to stop trying to focus on your skin day to day. The more u think about not picking the more likely one is to pick
