for almost the first full year the crested gecko subreddit helped so much! people share decor ideas, cool hides (check etsy!), bioactive guides/tips, all sorts of stuff. once Melvin is a little more settled in/bigger tank i recommend one of those disk hamster wheels! mine uses it every single night and it's soo cute to watch her do her big steppies. wouldn't have ever considered it without poking around in the subreddit!

a little tip as a crestie owner of two, add lots of foliage!!! cresties require a lot of climbing and hiding spots. if they don’t have enough places they could start to sleep on the glass upside down which could cause floppy tail syndrome. overall a good starter tank and i know you will be a great crestie mom, (p.s melvin is so adorable!! ❤️)

I've got 2 crested geckos and they're amazing. I have a little bit of advice for you, but from what I saw, you're doing great. Melivn likely won't eat for up to 10 days so he can get used to the new enclosure and the best advice would be do not stress. When I got my first gecko I was stressing like crazy and it got me nowhere. Another thing I would suggest is using Pangea or Rapshy diet.

A few tips! Cresties need a lot of clutter and foliage and climbing options. While you do have a bit for him he’s going to need more. You really shouldn’t be able to see him when you look in the tank during the day time especially. They will easily get stressed without the clutter.
Also what UVB is it you’re using at the top? If it’s coil/compact same as dragons they can produce too much or not enough UVB. You’ll want Arcadia 2.4% layed over the mesh! You can use Arcadia 7% too but more for bigger enclosures. Don’t over mist him. A lot of people do this, let him have a dry out period during the day time where it gets down to 50% humidity and spray at night to raise it up to 80%+. Make sure to give a good quality diet like Pangea. MBD is usually seen in cresties fed diets that aren’t approved or missing ingredients they need.
Keep an eye on his feeding where he’s so small right now it may of been best to start with a tub set up and slowly move up to his forever home size. Babies have a harder time finding their food :)

just a few tips especially since he’s small, make sure he’s eating since baby crested geckos aren’t the smallest and putting them in a big enclosure can stress them out and they won’t eat or they will get lost. otherwise he’s so cute can’t wait for more videos of him!

Here’s a tip for the suction cups! Spray them with water before you stick them to the glass, it definitely helps!

I’m so happy! My sister (who is a massive animal fan) rescued my cousins crested gecko like 5 yrs ago now sadly he wasn’t fed a proper diet so he is deformed and stayed the same size as when he was little. We love him loads surprisingly his tail hasn’t fallen off yet 😂

Love the enclosure❤ just a few tips I’ve learned from owning three cresties. If you ever get worried about him eating, just put a thin layer of food in the dish, so you can see lick marks. And try a lot of different food brands and flavors, since they can have different textures and tastes. My younger crestie loves Pangea growth and breeding, it’s a great one for if they’re underweight too. Also, I feed mine a good amount of bugs, I’d say like two or three times per week. Hope this helps, if you ever have feeding issues. Anyway, love your videos, and can’t wait to see more of him, keep it up🫶

Speaking from experience and clumsiness, yes you can get a paper cut in the eye and it took about a week of eye cream antibiotic and an eye patch for it to heal.
