Lord Merton sudden outburst "be silent this instant sir" with that very different tone of voice was fantastic

Loved the way that Lord Merton, Matthew and Robert stood at once in protest against Larry Grey's boorish behavior!
Loved also how Matthew showed solidarity with Tom by asking him to stand with him as his best man. This, I think, was Tom's real beginning of being accepted as a member of the Crawley family. As Isabel said, BRAVO!

It’s so touching that Robert, Matthew, and Merton all immediately rush to defend Tom. They stand up for him, literally and figuratively.

"If we're mad enough to take on the Crawley girls we have to stick together." LOVE IT. Wish they would have explored Matthew and Tom's friendship even more and given them more scenes together - they're very natural together.

I loved it when the Dowager said in any other century he would have been called out and shot. No truer words have ever been spoken. In the 19th century and before, duels were a bit more commonplace than one might think.

“Be silent this instant sir!” I’ve been obsessed with this line and how he says it, I’ll admit I’ve even said it to my students once when they behaved poorly 😂😂😂 I imagined myself as an English aristocrat doing it 😂

I think Mary's display of gratitude at the end and her defence of Tom is very underrated. Mary referring to Tom as her brother-in-law and calling out Larry Grey's retort as a 'bully's defence' showed that she stood with Tom. She thanked Matthew for not only defending Tom, but also for restoring his honour and good character in one full sweep. Mary appreciated all aspects I think as well as admiring Matthew for it. Sybil, was after all, a sister that both Mary and Edith cherished and it was as much for Sybil as for Tom.

It always seemed that Larry’s torment of Tom came from the fact he hoped to court and marry Sybil. However they never would have worked. Larry would have been far to snobbish for the down to earth Sybil
