"Restore to the original state" has to be the funniest thing I've heard regarding this.

Utility company: Yes, you may poant flowers here. Just ni hardwoods or anything that obstructs access.

Me: Great! Thanks!

Utility company six months later: Yeah, we drove our truck through that, tore up the lawn, grass, flowers, and cut down a tree eighteen feet from our easement. But, we didn't break ground so everything was left in the orignal condition when we performed our inspection we didn't need the truck for.

Me: And you wonder why some people come out of their house armed when they see you?
