The easiest way to simplify the ending is to say, because pucci was erased from this new universe, his gravitational pull wouldn’t exist so it couldn’t drag Jolyne and the others down their Part 6 paths. So they’re given new ones that are much better without Pucci’s influence

The Jolyne to Irene name change is DEFINITELY symbolic.
Every Jostar meant to battle evil has a name that can be shortened to JoJo. Hence why George II and Holly had the names they did, because they never got to fight evil, unlike the others.
Since Irene’s fate is no longer to battle evil, she doesn’t need a JoJo name anymore.

I like the idea that jotaro could share the same name as his old counterpart, whereas Jolyne doesn't, meaning this universe pretty much means that the feud with Dio ended in part 3, as it reasonably should've

I love how Anasui ended up being Jolyne's boyfriend in the new universe. Since he was part of the main cast and fate rewarded said cast, fate was probably just like "Yeah this dude wanted to be Jolyne's boyfriend and he's done a pretty good job, let's give him what he wants."

You forgot to mention that because Pucci’s actions basically got nullified with the final universe reset, FF wasn’t killed. Of course, this means she never gained human-like sentience, so she’s probably just living a regular plankton’s life in the prison lake.

Not really a complaint, just something I thought about

I can imagine Rohan meeting Emporio and using Heavens Door to read the events of part 6

You know what's somewhat tragic?
Pucci was, deep down, a good man, but he got corrupted by DIO. In the meantime, it's implied that DIO might have been evil from birth.

And yet, Pucci suffered a far worse fate.
DIO died relatively quickly and he didn't endure any sort of "fate worse than death", like Kars or Diavolo.
In the meantime, Pucci got pummeled by Weather Report while being poisoned, and he apparently was erased from existence. He wasn't even granted the chance to be reborn and have a life where he may have never met DIO.

I just realized that because the main cast got improved lives in the new universe, it probably means Weather was never switched with a dead baby at birth and thus was able to grow up with his sister Perla and no longer had to get involved in a relationship with her without the potential of incest because he would always see her as her sister, thus saving both of them from the tragedy that befell them after Pucci hired that “private detective agency”.

Wes got what he deserved: a good life.

It’s enough to make a grown man cry :’)

And may I just add, it's preposterous how many people think that the ending of Emporio beating Pucci is "random and out of nowhere, forced beacause 'justice had to win' ". This is actually perfect as an ending for Pucci's character and all of Stone Ocean, fitting the theme of fate and justice perfectly.
All throughout the story, fate ensured that Pucci will attain heaven for everyone, and make the people know the future of their life, to accept it and live happily. but Pucci, after sensing that he will be defeated by Emporio someday in the future, chose to stop the process right before he succeeded to go kill Emporio, and defied fate, the one thing helping him to win, he wants everyone to accept their fate, but rejected his own fate of death. This is the moment his hypocrisy and evil lay bare, the moment he chose to let go of fate, fate let go of him and made him drop from heaven all the way to hell. Starting from the moment he chose to do evil deeds and ruin people's live, his failure was sealed, as he will ultimately fail cause his hypocrisy and hubris will make him fall. his fate of defeated, also ironically, destined due to his hypocrite and arrogant nature.
The ending of Stone Ocean made a lot of sense, Very Much sense and is close to perfection in conveying the theme, which is to know your destiny while still having hopes and fight on. It just needed more thinkings to realise how masterfully done and how much symbolism Stone Ocean had and sadly so many people didn't.

pt 6's ending is truly the most shocking, impactful & unexpected ending in jojos. it's the best way to end the joestar curse/bloodline & start for the better. however there are some people who still do not understand how the ending works & hate on it as they "killed off all characters" when they technically sped read it and called it a day.

Honestly I love the ending of Part 6, because Im a huge fan of bitter sweet endings and this is probably one of the best ones Ive ever seen in manga

It's difficult to describe what SO's ending is to me. I find it one of the saddest and most poetic pieces of art I've withnessed so far.
Being filled with joy knowing the cast's struggles are no more, reading Jolyne's new name "Irene Kujo", which doesn't carries the usual "Jo" vowel...
But at the same time being aware that the characters I loved and cared about for the entirety of part 6 don't virtually exist anymore...
Happiness and sorrow together, this is what art feels like.

With no Pucci ever having existed, DIO's death at the end of part 3 really was the end of his influence. He would have had a handful of supporters left but what matters is that he never found a stand candidate capable of attaining Heaven, meaning that once Jotaro burned the journal, it was over. Parts 4 and 5 still happen as normal because they're more concerned with the arrow and Jotaro would still probably want to have Kokichi look into DIO'S child. Jotaro was the true victor of the generational battle with DIO.

I remember back when EVERYONE thought that part 6 reset into 7, that was so God damn annoying.

Something no one talks about is that even in the ending of stone ocean FF is still dead

Thank you for making this. Part 6 is my favorite part of JoJo's and it's a beautiful and perfect conclusion to the original Joestar universe and the misinformation around it is so frustrating to see everywhere.

The end of part 6 was amazing. I had it spoiled that something universal happened at the end, but I was in complete shock and bittersweet sadness when I read it anyway

Everything from Parts 1-5 happens the same exact way. Only the ones who Pucci personally killed during the MIH were reborn with better fates. The events of Part 6 never happens because Pucci no longer exists because he died before the reset was finished. If Pucci doesn't exist then nobody frames Jolyne of murder so she never goes to prison and Jotaro never had to constantly watch his back for DIO's minions and he can stay with his family. So Jotaro and Jolyne have a normal father-daughter relationship after the reset. The generations long Joestar vs DIO fate was also erased with Pucci since he was the only one who knew about DIO's heaven plan. Nobody else will be able to carry on DIO's will. This is why Jolyne's name is Irene. There are no conflicts in this universe, so she is not a JoJo. That's why Araki created SBR universe since the original universe no longer has any threats to the Joestars.

Also Pucci doesn't "reset" the universe, he speeds it up so much that the universe ends and begins again. Try thinking of it like a clock, a full rotation is 1 day. Pucci starts speeding up the clock at 10am and stops at the next 10am. This is where he fights Emporio and dies. Pucci dying causes Made In Heaven to lose its effect and it goes back to the original universe, basically Pucci's plan of erasing the Joestars backfired and he got erased instead. Since now Pucci doesn't exist in the original universe, no one would kill Jotaro, Jolyne and rest. So they have better lives. We don't see FF reborn because FF doesn't exist anymore since Pucci is the one who created FF by giving a stand disc to planktons. You could say Pucci did not cause Ermes or Anasui to go to prison so why do they have better lives too? Gravity and Fate are a larger force in JoJo than you may think. Ermes and Anasui were fated to fight this battle against Pucci so they were drawn into these specific situations that led them there. Just how Pucci keeps repeating that the Kujos are his greatest allies. Since Pucci does not exist, they no longer have to go to prison and join Jolyne. This force of fate has been prevalent throughout the series, Zeppelis dont intentionally die for JoJos, they are fated to. Bucciarati was fated to die anyway, trying to prevent it caused the path to change but the destination still led to Bucciarati dying.

People saying Giorno and Rohan weren't affected are beyond stupid. LIVING BEINGS WERE NOT AFFECTED BY MADE IN HEAVEN. Nobody was affected by it. Made in Heaven's goal was to reach singularity point and safely transport all living things to the new universe. Pucci wanted to kill Jotaro and Jolyne so that their bodies are destroyed since they would no longer be "living beings" and cannot move to the new universe. Rohan meeting deadlines meant his drawing is so fast that he can draw before the ink dries out. Other mangakas were unable to draw because the ink dried out before they could touch the paper. Made In Heaven physically did not affect anyone.
