People don't have money. It is that simple. It doesn't matter who the president is! If you can't afford groceries, there's no point in looking at overpriced cars that became overpriced due to greed and inflation (which will continue).

No one is forcing you to buy anything. But the companies have ongoing overhead costs. If people stop buying, prices will come down.

Why is it some people on YouTube say car prices are going down, other channels are saying they are going up. The car prices are ridiculous new or used

Doesn't matter, prices will never drop.

What… wait… no car market crash that has been forecasted for the last year by just about all the YouTubers, what a shock 😮!

Savvy dealers know they need to discount vehicles to save their businesses. Some dealers still have new 2023 models on their lot! I cast a wide net, local dealers were still living in the past, thinking they could charge markups. So I drove 5 hours one way, and got a 2024 F150 for $13, 000 less than MSRP. The truck had been on the dealer's lot for over 120 days. Losing a little now beats continuing to pay floor plan interest on aging inventory. Big three brand dealers lots are FULL of new cars. Even Toyota dealers have their lots full of Tundras and Tacomas (Toyota screwed up those two vehicles with their latest design).

During the last three years, the value of the dollar has dropped 17%. That’s not the fault of the auto makers

We vote for politicians who legislate extreme CAFE standards. Safety standards. Design restrictions. Again, not the fault of auto makers.

The part that is perpetually left out of these of the data quoted is a lagging indicator and not representative of today. The used car market is in decline JUST like the new car market.

I started working in car sales again. Sales has slowed down a bit same with restaurant business along with other retail industries. I agree with you about it doesn’t matter who gets elected things will start moving again this just part of the cycle.

Used car prices are largely dependent on trade ins for those buying new. New sales continue to suffer due to high prices and stubborn dealers that won't lower prices. IMO, dealers are leaning heavily on used sales to counter poor new car sales combined with the floor plan costs. IMO, this strategy will fail and there will be a day of reckoning. It will end with many dealers folding. Yet the oems continue to favor building mostly padded up body on frames that fewer people can afford. They are in la la land living in the past.

I think your right with the Politics...If we stay the same...depressed market will stay but if we go back a president and look at the market at that time and the money you had in your pocket...Well people will be more willing to spend. But $40, 000-$100, 000+ for a pickup Give me a Break!! People quit paying 25% of your income on a car payment dummy up

Go ahead and produce fewer cars Toyota and auto market to inflate prices. People will just spend more on mechanics keeping old car running longer and longer.

If Trump gets in and there is a 20% tax, there is no way the auto market will recover. Everything will go up. Ijs

Honestly it’s a tie between manufacturers and dealers, I saw one car that’s msrp for @39k whereas as soon as it hits the dealer it can easily double!

Manufacturers want to sell me vehicles with lots of option packages, over-electonified, over-priced, with POOR QUALITY. I'm a single bachelor. Why should I junk my basic plastic Saturns and buy a $60, 000 (average) F-150 or a HUNDRED GRAND WAGONEER? I can "sit out" for probably another decade.
