I had a friend who lived with her boyfriend but couldn't marry him because his lawyer said if they married, the ex could come after the new wife's income too. (I think it was a mix child/spousal support) They lived together for over a decade before the child support was done and he was able to go back to court about the spousal support. That's well over a decade where the ex didn't work, and she lived very well. When they finally went to court her argument was that she was now too old to enter the work force. The judge reminded her that she'd had 10 years to either go to school or work her way up in a job, get seniority, get benefits and a retirement fund. Boy was she mad when he decreased her support every year for 5 years then cut it off all together. He also exempted the girlfriends (now new wife's income) so they could marry. Not all judges rule for the wives... I respect the ones that really see each case individually.

I have just been sentenced in a court of law, just because a woman(who wasn't doing her job), was scared by me, asking her to stop talking on the phone with her friend, and do her job, so I could get on with my day... that's apparently violence in this day and age, because I have to go to prison for 2 months, just because she lied about the events, and what was said... 100% belief in her lie, that she even couldn't keep straight, 0% belief in me, eventhough I could give exact times, dates, was consistent in my statements, but my XY chromosomes makes me automatically Guilty, no matter what

I know from personal experience that a restraining order can't stop somebody from driving around in public to look at you or bother you. I had an ex who, of course, had a kid with a jail bird who would do that. You have to at least record it if you want a judge to listen about it.
