The term Native American is considered to be the inhabitants of the Americas (north/south) that existed on the continent prior to its European discovery. Mexicans are not Native Americans, nor are they indigenous to any part of America. Although most Mexicans do indeed have some native American ancestry most of their ancestry is European. Spaniards who conquered and named the territory Mexico used to enslave and rape the native tribes which produced a lot of mixed race people. Mexicans are mostly mixed race Spaniard descendants, who are not native, or indigenous, and who try to claim the Aztec's culture. The natives of the Americas don't call themselves Mexicans or identify themselves with Mexico. They have their own tribes, their own language, and their own DNA. Even the native tribes are not truly indigenous to any part of America; They came from Siberia, they are in fact of Russian/Asian descent. They are immigrants just as much as any European or African, they've just been there longer.
