Policy keeping day laborers out of Home Depot

A Home Depot policy is making an already difficult living situation all the more challenging, according to day laborers, who are directly affected by the change. They said that measures taken this spring by the Home Depot to keep them out of the parking lot at the company's store in New Rochelle is a reversal that's having a strongly negative impact on the laborers' ability to get selected for contracting gigs and odd jobs. Home Depot, however, stands by its policy, which it contends has been in place for years.

They leave lots of trash on Home Depot parking lots and poop everywhere instead of going inside to use a bathroom and they think it is cool. Do you care?

How about some extensive video of them ACTUALLY being selected for work. They claim this new policy affects their ability to get work, but I don't see exactly how. They don't want you hanging around the parking lot, because customers get a little worried about being approached and harassed. If Home Depot, and other stores of the like, want to keep an even balance of security and organization, why not have an area of the parking lot(by the lumber department) dedicated to "Day Laborers"(with a sign), where most contractors are going to be in and out of anyway, where they can collectively wait to be picked for work. It keeps them organized away from the building. Contractors then know where to go if they need them. And security can keep a better eye on them. Plus, keep the number limited to how many are allowed to wait by the "Laborer Tent". I find it interesting that they can't find work, but certainly know how to find a lawyer.

They are in every Home Depot. They don't bother no one, just waiting to be picked and get that day pay

I don’t see anyone wearing work boots, pants not so tight they can’t move around fast, and with works gloves. These guys are stupid if they think any OSHA compliant construction site in the USA would hire them.
