Those are some impressive stats. And it's really nice seeing the components being fleshed out, more and more of it coming together as one. This will be a beast of a machine.

Now all you need to do is install an oscillation overthruster to complete the experiment

impressive tech, but why not just mount a camera(s) then not worry about the windscreen + get much more viewing access ??

I wonder when this land speed record thing is going to hit a brick wall. There is no place big enough and flat enough for something faster than Bloodhound ssc

Those of you who keep asking what the point of all this is are very irritating. It's research. It brings knowledge. And, like they've already pointed out, brings in new engineers and talent into this type of work. All of you people slow down progress. What ever happened to the people of old who contributed their life to science and research?

You keep saying that this sort of work does nothing for society, isn't that the same with those in the past who did the research who found out other planets exist in our solar system, or that there are other galaxies in the universe that we are never going to reach at least in this life time? The knowledge of that hasn't done much to society themselves but we don't bash on that. Why? Because it's knowledge, as this project is too. Sure, it may not mean much now but some where down the line it may do.

Also, the money they use have been donated to them. It's not like they've sucked the money out of a bank. Remember, more money has been donated to third world countries than it has been to this project, and poverty still exists. Donations to these countries are in trillions overall but they haven't improved, why? Because those countries leaders take the money for themselves most of the time. Don't blame these people for something that's the fault of another person - instead, back them so that we can get a further understanding of our world and universe, even if it's seemingly "useless" to society.

Why have a wind shield, why not have an inclosed cockpit with a LED screen and camera. Why even have a man controlling it, so he can control the accelerator and then say man has traveled 1000mph+ on land, seems rather stupid a pointless to me.

You watch the world chase this record when its broken.
Why not do it?
Rule Britania, first again.

All this is great and fun but what does it accomplish for humanity ? what is the end goal ? prove that you can go faster? if this was electric it would make more sense as this would drive the technology forward (we know electric is the future) but a rocket engine on a car? If this could help companies like SpaceX improve their rocket than why not, we all know earth isnt here forever...

One question. Why? Why spend hundred of thousands of USD to build something like this? To permit an old guy to pass 1, 000 MPH? Lol, complex anyone? You could send the money to kids in Brazil or Africa.
