Sonic X Shadow Generations takes an already excellent game and spring jumps it to new heights at a blistering pace by doubling up the campaign length with creative level design, fantastic bosses, plenty of collectibles, and an appreciable graphical upgrade. While the brand-new Shadow content isn't necessarily long on its own, it adds a nice change of pace to the collection of all-time great Sonic stages Generations already contained, and there’s an exciting new story that’s filled in as you explore the overworld for collectibles, activities, and challenges. This bulked-up remaster soars far and above previous enhanced versions we've gotten in the Sonic franchise, and hopefully will be the gold standard Sega holds itself to when it decides to bring back other Sonic games from the past.

This might be there first review of a 3D sonic game where they didn't say "Sonic had a rough transition to 3D" or "Since past attempts like the infamous Sonic 06"

"Shadow's 5 hour campaign..." That's what I wanted to hear. Sonic Generations was a great game, it's easily up there as a favourite of mine, but the big criticism I have for it is quite frankly it's too short. It's fun, sure, but short. So adding an extra 5 hours onto that? Great, let's go!

1:02 I'd love to see a Chao Garden with online functionality. PVP, visit other people's gardens, maybe trading chaos, special events or giveaways for items that make your chao look different like in SA2 where they change shape based on the animal given to them. So many easy ideas Sega could give its fans. Cosmetics for a chao is really easy be it clothing, hats, etc.

Side note, Crush 40 has always been one of the best parts of the Sonic franchise and honestly without their music I don’t think it would be as iconic or nostalgic.

What people need to realise is that, this game getting a great score/being reviewed highly in general by others, helps boost the Sonic brand as a whole. For years, Sonic has just been this juggernaut franchise with good, but flawed games. Suddenly, there’s a great game again. People will (hopefully) start looking at Sonic more favourably again.

If anything, this game succeeding and leading to more potential Shadow games/inclusion in games makes me the most happy. He’s my favourite character of the series so I’m happy he’s doing so well now
