Considering that Sonic Generations originally ran at sub-HD (880x720) and had drops to 20fps in stages like Crisis City on both the PS3 and Xbox 360, it's great to see that the Switch can run at 1080p at 30fps locked, it's also great to see that the PS4 runs at 60fps (and the Xbox One probably too) I remember that the FPS boost that the game received years ago was only for the Xbox Series S/X leaving the old-gen out, so it's pretty cool to see that at least the old-gen will be able to enjoy 60fps.

But I'm kind of surprised that Shadow Generations runs at just 30fps on the PS4, Frontiers I can even understand running at 30fps since it had an open world, but I really expected Shadow Generations to run at 60fps since Sonic Forces did.

Well... at last it's locked 30fps.

It's impressive how competently the Switch runs the Shadow portion. Sonic's part is a 360 era game, so it would be pretty embarrassing if they messed that up. But Shadow's part seems just as demanding as Forces and Frontiers. Just in contrast to those games I look at this game's Switch gameplay and say to myself "This is nice!" A first for 3D Sonic on the Switch.

it is amazing that the 2017 switch with a sistem on a chip (Soc) from even earlier can still run a ps5 game that cant run at 4k on ps5 . nintendo with a hardware similar to a ps3 doing miracles

Why shadow gens runs 30fps on ps4 is beyond me

Shadow Gens runs on the newer Hedgehog Engine 2 that powered Sonic Forces and Sonic Frontiers. While forces did run at 60fps on both PS4 and Xbox One, there are plenty of visual improvements over Forces that are more in line with Frontiers, which did run at 30fps on last gen consoles.

The one thing I am surprised at is that the PS5 doesn't have a 120fps mode at 1080p. Playing the game on my PC with a laptop 3060, I can hit close to a stable 120fps in pretty much the entire game and at 1440p I hit somewhere in the 90-120fps range pretty consistently. I do have a better CPU but this game is mostly a GPU load with it's effects. They really should add a 120fps mode to this game. Also Series S should be able to hit 4K in at least Sonic Gens considering the age of that game and the ease it takes to run it

ps4 pro is still a good console in my opinion. There is 4k upscaling and Shadow Generations finally runs at 60fps
