NUMBER 1:

Single mum, Nadya Denise Doud-Suleman Gutierrez has fourteen children, all of them created by in-vitro fertilisation. She is referred to as the Octomom though, because her last birth was in fact eight - she had octuplets in 2009! There has only been one other set of live octuplets born in America and Gutierrez's hold the world record for survival rate.

NUMBER 2:

Peruvian Lina Medina holds the record for the youngest ever mum in medical history. She was just over five and a half when she had her son. Her mum and dad sought medical attention for her distended tummy and tests were ordered for a suspected tumor.
In fact she was seven months pregnant. Her pelvis too small to deliver the baby, she had a caesarean section on 14th May, 1939.
She was attended to by two doctors and an anaesthetist and her situation made La Presse Medicale, a medical journal. The detailed report was written by Dr Edmundo Escomel. It was found that she was developing extraordinarily quickly. The journal explained that she had begun menstruation within her first three years, she had breasts at age four and her pelvis showed signs of womanhood by the time she was five.

NUMBER 3:

70 year old Rajo Devi Lohan had been trying for a baby for 40 years before conceiving for the first time. Her child was born in 2008. At the time, she said she hoped to breast feed for the first three years.

NUMBER 6:

In order to have an heir to leave their smallholding to, Omkari Panwar and her husband sold buffalo, remortgaged land, used all their savings and got a loan. They used the money to pay for IVF treatment. They did have daughters and grandchildren, but they needed a boy. Omkari was 70 when the treatment resulted in twin boys. Her husband was 77.

NUMBER 7:

42 year-old Carole Horlock has had the most surrogate pregnancies in the world. Over 13 years Horlock had 12 babies, being paid around $25,000 for each. When she decided to become a surrogate mum, she hadn't really planned on making a career out of it, but she puts up with morning sickness and all the procedures that come with pregnancy so she must love it. She receives a letter and photo yearly from her clients but her dad won't contact her, believing that the babies she gives away are somehow his grandchildren.

NUMBER 8:

2ft 4 in Stacey Herald has ignored medical warnings not to get pregnant and has given birth already to two children with another on the way. She is officially the world's shortest mother as has a condition called Osteogenesis Imperfecta resulting in her lack of growth and need for a wheelchair. Stacey's children aren't much smaller than she is when they're born and by the time they reach their first birthday, they'll be much taller than her. Will, Stacey's husband, is 5 ft 9. When she's pregnant, Stacey struggles to leave her bed, so big is her abdomen. Doctors have told the couple that Stacey risks her life with each pregnancy, but they are still keen to have more children.

NUMBER 9:

Weighing 8.6oz, that's less than a beer can, and measuring 10 inches in length, Rumaisa Rahman became the smallest baby in the world when she was born in 2004.
