its important to note though, having been such a uniquely high ranking woman, its quite possible rumors were invented of how cruel she was. she also made it so that mothers should be mourned as long as fathers were, iirc. she did some good things for women, though it was undone after she died

I've been anticipating a short on the worst moms for quite a while now. Once again, I'd like to put up Catherine the Great's mother as a candidate for one of these shorts! :)

A lot of what is written about her that survives today is from historians who HATED her. While she was an Emperor and did unforgivable things, there is just not enough actual evidence for me to believe she killed her infant to frame the late Empress.

I recommend reading more about her!! Theres so much to her life, and so many controversies and schemes and lies have been written over her history. Again, not that she literally wasn't a murdery emperor, but you dont get to the top of China by being lovley and sweet.

I love the story of Wu Zetian! She's one of my favorite historical figures. She's got such an interesting progression across her life
